Such is her achievement in-spite-of her humble beginnings. Come to know 'Michelle Bachelet' the first woman President of Chile who took the reins of the Latin American nation in Aug 2006. She defeated one of the richest men in Chile in the Presidential elections and emerged as the President to create many a first in the world political scene. An aching past behind her as a child whose parents were incarcerated and tortured for her father's refusal to side a military coup in 1973 (He was an Air Force General in the tumultous period), Michelle Bathelet is an international statesperson and has been in India was the past few days on bilateral issues and mutual cooperation. |
